How To Become
A Pilot
A complete step-by-step guide to your Indian CPL — from education documents to your first commercial licence.
Verify Your Education Documents (10th/12th)

A Board Verification Certificate (BVC) is issued by your education board, confirming that the marks on your mark sheets are genuine. It is required from applying for a Computer Number all the way to CPL issue.
For CBSE students, it can be generated online. Check your respective board's website for the process.
Complete DGCA Medicals (Class 2 → Class 1)

Class 2 Medical is the initial medical requirement, conducted by DGCA-empanelled examiners. It includes medical history, colour vision, BMI, and general physical examination.
After clearing Class 2, you become eligible for Class 1 Medical — which is mandatory for CPL issue. Class 1 is conducted at Air Force medical centres or DGCA-approved civil hospitals.
Apply for Your Computer Number (Pariksha)

Your Computer Number is your unique DGCA ID, issued by the Central Examination Organisation. It is required for DGCA theory exams and CPL issue.
You'll need your BVC, attested mark sheets, and documents per DGCA guidelines. Processing typically takes 1–2 months — apply well in advance.
Clear DGCA Ground Papers + RTR

DGCA requires clearing: Air Regulations, Aviation Meteorology, Technical General, Technical Specific, Air Navigation, and Radio Telephony (RTR via WPC).
Quality ground classes help you understand concepts deeply and prepare strategically for DGCA exam patterns.
Complete Flight Training + Skill Checks

Accumulate at least 200 hours of flying including required PIC, cross-country, instrument, and night hours as per DGCA. Successfully complete skill checks with DGCA examiners.
This stage combines theoretical knowledge with practical flying.
CPL Issue / Foreign CPL Conversion

Submit final documents for CPL issue on eGCA. If trained abroad, complete DGCA's conversion criteria including valid foreign CPL, Class 1 medical, authenticated logbook, skill test certificates, cross-country statements, and night flying hours as PIC.
